no, really 409 is the limit. A DMR is not a m16 that shoots 450 fps with a scope on it. A dmr is a precise work of art that takes months to perfect. If you want to do a dmr it will take a lot of time and skilled techwork.

A G&G SR25 that some poor bastard has spent a long time working on. Like putting in a tightbore, perfecting the hopup, zeroing a scope, getting the air compression right, and setting up a whole new rig with a bunch of new magazines. A good DMR takes a ridiculously long amount of time and in the end it is just a hot shooting AEG stuck in semi that is useless at anything less than 50 ft.

http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?products_id=30455 Upgrade the motor , spring, few gearbox tweeks and bucking/nub and you will have a killer DMR

well I'm no expert but I would have to say it's a combination of both. You just can't slap parts in.. It takes time and a lot of effort to keep tweeking and fine tuning till it's perfect and by hop up were talking bucking and nub set up.

The whole idea of a DMR is to be a super high performance system. The problem with most if not all high performance setups are that they are difficult to maintain. The problems are that you will absolutely need to clean your barrel constantly. Another big issue is that you are heavily restricted compared to other people if you go the exact "DMR" way. My advice is to take any old AEG and do little changes, yes you can add a tbb but that has many different pros/cons. A big issue is the mater if maintenance.; If you want to keep your gun at an optimal sniper rifle-esque state then you are in for a world of pain. If you want to take an M16 and slap on an ACOG, a tbb, use heavy bbs, and do some air compression optimization (but try to stay at 390ish) then you would be doing the best thing for increasing accuracy. Simply put a good sniper esque platform should be be avoided at all costs, however a more accurate relatively long AEG is a wise investment.

a dmr is semi auto restricted either by a mosfet or modifications to the selector plate. Most real airsoft dmr's will have an r hop mod and +- 2 compression with prommy or pdi barrels, not cheap madbull ones. Their gearbox will be completely overhauled and fined tuned.
